Research fields

The focus of our research is the urban ecological functionality of green spaces in different urban environments in Central Europe, China (Eco-functionality of green spaces in Shanghai, in cooperation with the East China Normal University Shanghai), and South Africa (National park in the city, in cooperation with the University of Stellenbosch).

The especially limited conditions of urban ecosystems under arid conditions are analysed in the city Bahawalpur in a cooperation project with the Islamia University Bahawalpur (Pakistan). A partnership agreement with their Department of Geography has existed since 2007.

A project on ecological transformations of selected urban structural areas through land use change is in preparation.
